Satan Rir Media

Below you'll find Norwegian journalist Torstein Grude's 1998 documentary titled "Satan Rir Media" ("Satan Rides the Media"). The highly interesting documentary focuses on the media hype surrounding the criminal activities of the mid-nineties Norwegian Black Metal scene. The story of the murder of Euronymous strongly reminds me of Dostoyevski's book "Crime And Punishment": both tell the tale of a young man who is driven to murder by an arrogant Nietzschean ideology - Varg Vikernes as a Raskolnikov without regrets...

Vikernes himself thinks the film gives a fairly accurate view of the media, with their unmatched ability to manipulate the masses, invented the idea of a "Satanic cult" in Norway, and how followers of "extreme music" and outsider people bought into it. He strongly disputed the book "Lords of Chaos" as lies, however.

Thanks for the comment, Steyr. Though I have strong doubts about the book "Lords Of Chaos", I am also deeply suspicious of anything Vikernes says about the period before his incarceration. I am under the impression that he is trying to rewrite his own history to serve his current ideological needs. My post on MZ. 412's album "Burning The Temple Of God" in part addresses this issue.
